As per your request I am providing you all the details related to this exam. Hope this information is sufficient for you.

Like IAS, IPS too makes an integral part of the Indian system. IPS comprises of higher level police officials, especially concerned with the maintenance of law and order across the country. Civil Services not only offers job securities but also power, prestige, idealism and ability to change the system from within.

The procedure to become IPS is same as IAS. You have to go through its competitive exam i.e. CSE (Civil Service Examination) held every year under the supervision of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Eligibility:-

Mimum Educational Qualifications:-

You must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

Age Limit:- You must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years.

Age Relaxation:-

(i) upto a maximum of five years if you belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.

(ii) upto a maximum of three years in the case you belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.

CSE consists of three phases :
1) CSAT
2) Civil Services Mains
3) IPS Interview.

CIVIL SERVICES (PRELIMINARY) EXAM 2015:-

Date of commencement of Examination:- 23.08.2015 (SUNDAY)

Duration of the Exam:- 1 DAY

CIVIL SERVICES (MAIN) EXAM 2015:-

Date of commencement of Examination:- 18.12.2015 (FRIDAY)

Duration of the Exam:- 5 DAYS

Part A

PAPERS OF OBJECTIVE TYPE

Paper I - (200 marks) Duration : Two hours

• Current events of national and international importance
• History of India and Indian National Movement
• Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
• Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
• Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
• General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization
• General Science.

Paper II-(200 marks) Duration : Two hours

• Comprehension
• Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
• Logical reasoning and analytical ability
• Decision making and problem solving
• General mental ability
• Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. — Class X level)
• English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).

Part B

PAPERS OF DESCRIPTIVE TYPE

Paper III : English (200 marks / 3 hours duration) :- This will be a qualifying test only of Matriculation or equivalent standard.

The aim of the paper is to test the candidate’s ability to read and understand serious discursive prose, and to express his ideas clearly and correctly, in English.

The pattern of questions would be broadly as follows (indicative only) :—

(i) Comprehension of given passages;
(ii) Precis Writing;
(iii) Usage and Vocabulary;
(iv) Paragraphs writing;

Note:- Answer to all questions in this Paper will have to be attempted in English only.

Paper IV : Essay ( 200 Marks/ three hours duration)

Candidates will be required to write two Essays. One topic will pertain to Indian Society/politics/ Economy/Development, Growth and related aspects. The other topic will pertain to security and related matters. Candidates will be expected to keep closely to the subject of the essay to arrange their ideas in orderly fashion, and to write concisely. Credit will be given for effective and exact expression. Paper V : General Studies (200 Marks/ three hours duration)

Exam Pattern of Preliminary Examination:-

The Examination shall comprise of two compulsory papers of 200 marks each.

(i) Both the question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions).

(ii) The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English. However, questions relating to English Language Comprehension skills of Class X level will be tested through passages from English Language only without providing Hindi translation thereof in the question paper.

Each paper will be of two hours duration. Blind candidates will however, be allowed an extra time of twenty minutes for each paper.

Exam Pattern of Main Examination:-

Paper-A (One of the Indian Language to be selected by the candidate from the Languages included in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution). 300 Marks

Paper-B English 300 Marks Papers to be counted for merit

Paper-I Essay 250 Marks

Paper-II General Studies-I 250 Marks

(Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society)

Paper-III General Studies -II 250 Marks (Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations)

Paper-IV General Studies -III 250 Marks

(Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management)

Paper-V General Studies -IV 250 Marks (Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude)

Paper-VI Optional Subject - Paper 1 250 Marks

Paper-VII Optional Subject - Paper 2 250 Marks

Sub Total (Written test) - 1750 Marks

Personality Test - 275 Marks

Grand Total - 2025 Marks

Candidates may choose any one of the optional subject
