Re: IOWA University TOEFL Requirement

International candidates whose first dialect is not English must submit results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) for admission to the college.

Programmed waivers of this necessity are allowed for persons who have finished a four year college education (or higher) at a licensed college in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada (barring French Quebec), Africa (English speaking), Australia, or New Zealand.

Least TOEFL Score Requirements for Graduate College Admission

TOEFL scores must be accounted for to the college specifically from the Educational Testing Service (ETS), which directs the TOEFL. The college's establishment code for the TOEFL is 6681. Admission to the Graduate College, which presents the greater part of degree projects at Iowa, requires:

A score of 550 or higher on the paper-based (PBT) form of the test, or

A score of 81 or higher on the Internet-based form of the test (iBT).

Recently conceded graduate understudies who present TOEFL scores beneath 600 on the PBT or underneath 100 on the IBT will be required to finish an English Proficiency Evaluation on grounds before their first enlistment for classes. There is no contingent confirmation for graduate understudies whose TOEFL scores are underneath 550 on the PBT or beneath 81 on the IBT.

Understudies might be required to finish English as a Second Language course work (ordinarily inside the primary year of study) if determined as an aftereffect of the English Proficiency Evaluation.

Some graduate projects may require TOEFL scores higher than those required by the Graduate College, and a few divisions may oblige understudies to finish an English Proficiency Evaluation, paying little mind to the understudy's TOEFL score. Contact the office offering your degree program, or visit its site, for its particular English dialect capability prerequisites.
