Indo Tibetian Border Police was come into force on 24th October 1962. It was mainly established for the purpose security at Indo China border.

ITBP is working on border guarding duties from Karakorum pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh. It is a multi-dimensional force.

ITBP Force recruits young men at the four levels of

Reservation of 15 percent for members of the Scheduled Caste, 7.5 percent for Scheduled Tribes and 27 percent for Other Backward Class candidates.
