Jai Narain Vyas University was established in 1962. It took over the four colleges of Jodhpur run by the state government and is accredited with "B" grade by the NAAC.

It offers courses in Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Engineering, Commerce & Business Management, Information Technology and Foreign Languages.

It runs Ph.D, undergraduate, diploma, and certificate courses in almost all faculties. There are over 40 postgraduate programs, 30 undergraduate programs, 10 postgraduate diploma programs and 5 diploma and certificate courses.
