As per my knowledge IT sector is one of the unique sector that provides jobs for any graduates student. Civil engineer also gets job in IT sector.

If you have good programming knowledge then you can apply for a job in IT Company. But remember you must compete with CSE guys, BE(IT) students, B.sc computer science students and BCA students who all are made for programming and studying for programming only.

According to me, there is recruitment present but very less requirement of civil engineers in IT fields.

Because, At IT field you will have knowledge in:

Programming level Interface
Networking
Hardware

These all have no concerned with civil engineer. It will be better if civil Engineers go towards:

Constructions
Transportation

But the best option after civil engineering you should apply for a job in Top civil Companies:
