The Department of Civil Engineering at Kalasalingam University was started in the year 1984 and currently offers B.Tech. programme in

B.Tech Civil Engineering – 4 Years
M.Tech Environmental Engineering – 2 Years

M.Tech. Construction Engineering and Management – 2 Years
M.Tech. Transportation Engineering – 2 Years
Ph.D. (In all Disciplines)

The major infrastructural resources in the department are highlighted as below:

1 CADD Lab: This Lab is well equipped with necessary number of computer terminals and software for meeting the curriculum requirement. Available software are – AUTOCAD, STAAD PRO, ETABS, GRAM++. Internet facilities with LAN are also available. (Besides this, the Central Computing facilities are available round the clock with Wi-Fi connectivity). The e-class rooms are equipped with LCD projector for use by students and staff.

2 Concrete & Highways Lab: The major equipments available are Centrifuge Extractor, Bline’s apparatus, Vee Bee Consistometer and California Bearing Ratio (CBR)

3 Environmental Engg. Lab: The Lab is equipped with digital Turbidity meter, pH meter, UV Spectro Photometer etc.

4 Fluid Mechanics Lab: This lab is equipped with all the flow measurement experimental set-ups and hydraulic machinery. Noteworthy is the Pelton Wheel and Francis turbines which are used for UG lab coursework.

5 Strength of materials Lab. This lab is equipped with Computerized Universal Testing Machine (100T capacity), Compression Testing Machine (200T capacity) and Brinell and Rockwell Hardness testing machine, besides all the other necessary equipments for UG curriculum, consultancy and research work.

6 Soil Mechanics Lab: This lab is also equipped with Triaxial Cell, Direct Shear test machine, Unconfined Compression testing machine and Permeability Test apparatus to name a few which is used for UG curriculum requirement as well as for consultancy.

7 Survey Lab: This lab is equipped with the latest survey equipments such as Total station, Electronic Theodolite, Auto Levels and Global Positioning System (GPS) which are used for consultancy works besides UG coursework requirement.
