The details of the Conventional Machining & Fitting Course offered under Fundamentals of Conventional Machines & Fitting Course by Keltron Toolroom Research & Training Centre are as follows: COURSE TITLE : Conventional Machining & Fitting COURSE CODE :CMF HOURS / WEEK : 25 hrs (5days / week) DURATION : 1 month FEE :Rs.10,000/- (GST Extra as applicable) COURSE STRUCTURE: MODULE I 1.1.0 Identify fitting tools and their use. 1.1.1 Types, features, and uses of Cutting Tools, Layout Tools, Assembly and Dismantling Tools. 1.1.2 Various types of Cutting Tools- Chisels, files, hacksaw, taps, dies and scrapers. 1.1.3 Definition – terminology – types – uses of taps. 1.1.4 Drill size for tapping. 1.1.5 Identify the function and classification of Chisels. 1.1.6 Identify the function and classification of files. 1.1.7 Describe various marking and Layout Tools. 1.1.8 List the various types of hammers and its classifications. 1.2.0 Comprehend the function of drilling machine and list the different types of drilling machines 1.2.1 Classification – sensitive, column or upright, Radial, Gang, Multi spindle, deep hole. 1.2.2 Define Work holding devices – vice, V – Block, jigs. 1.2.3 Define Tool holding devices – drill chuck, collets, and sleeves. 1.2.4 Describe Cutting speed and feed while drilling. 1.2.5 Understand Safety precautions 1.2.6 Explain Drills and reamers – types of drills (taper shank, straight shank, heavy duty, flat drills, step drills, core drills, and deep hole drill.) 1.2.7 Sketch of drill and reamers – nomenclature. 1.2.8 List Types of reamers. MODULE II 2.1.0. Operation of Conventional Lathe 2.1.1 Introduction to lathe 2.1.2 Classification of Lathes – Bench Lathe, Engine Lathe, and Tool room Lathe, Turret Lathe, Capstan Lathe, Automatic Lathe, Vertical Lathe, Speed Lathe 2.1.3 Define Lathe accessories – chucks, centers, collets, face plate, catch plate, carrier. 2.1.4 List Lathe tools – turning tools, threading tool, form tool, parting tool, facing tool etc. 2.1.5 Different operations in lathe -Step Turning, Step Boring and Thread cutting 2.1.6 Job setting 2.1.7 Define Cutting parameters – cutting speed, feed, and depth of cut – simple problems. 2.1.8 Understand the Cutting force during turning. 2.1.9 Coolants used for turning different materials. 2.1.10 Safety precautions to be followed during lathe operations. 2.2.0 Operation of Conventional milling machine 2.2.1 Introduction to milling machine 2.2.2 Describe general uses of milling machine 2.2.3 Identify different types of Milling Machine vice. Horizontal, Vertical, Universal with controls and specifications - sketches 2.2.4 Identify part of Milling Machine and function - sketches 2.2.5 Different operations of milling-Plain milling, Step milling, Slot milling-Pocket milling 2.2.6 Job setting in vice by dialing 2.2.7 Knowledge of different cutting tool materials used 2.2.8 Selecting speed feeds & depth of cut 2.2.9 Define Cutting speed, rpm, feed, depth of cut, machining time problems 2.2.10 Understand Safety precautions MODULE III 3.1.0 Grinding operations 3.1.1 Introduction to grinding machine 3.1.2 Classification of grinding machines 3.1.3 Describe part and specifications of surface grinding machines, cylindrical, Tools and cutter grinder, special purpose grinder 3.1.4 Understand Surface grinding and Reference grinding 3.1.5 Understand cylindrical external grinding, internal grinding and Step grinding 3.1.8 Learn to set a job 3.1.9 Define Cutting speed, rpm speed, depth of cut, machining time, calculations 3.1.10 Understand Safety precautions in grinding MODULE IV 4.1.0 Do the Practical exercises 4.1.1 Fitting- Filing, Hack sawing, Hammering, Centre punching, Chamfering, Radius filing, Familiarizing Hand tools and their uses.
