The Division of Oncology was established in the Department of Surgery, King George's Medical University KGMC, Lucknow in 1979 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

The Oncology Division established itself as a centre for excellence in academics, research, training and clinical service.

Facilities:

The Department of Surgical Oncology is presently situated in the newly constructed Shatabdi Phase I building and is in the process of shifting Shatabdi Phase II.

The department runs a day care chemotherapy facility.

The new department building will have indoor wards, Conference Room, Consultants' Room, Record room, seminar room, Library and administrative offices.

The OPD of the Department is situated in the OPD complex and runs thrice a week.

The department has facilities to operate patients suffering from Cancers of Head & Neck, Breast, Lungs, GI, Gynaecological Cancers etc.
