Konkan is the piece of Western Ghat of Maharashtra having positive rural atmosphere of tropics, geologically the uneven district with long waterfront ocean shore skilled with long rice culture, plant potential and the beach front agro – water cultivating. For the agrarian advancement of konkan area, Maharashtra Govt. built up a free Agriculture University on eighteenth May, 1972 named "Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth" with its head quarters at Dapoli, District Ratnagiri, Maharashtra State, India. On twelfth February. 2001, "Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth" has been renamed as "Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidypeeth.

Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidypeeth is having ward of five area of Maharashtra viz. Brihan – Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg locale of Maharashtra state.
