Well in the year 2011 the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) and GAIL Gas Limited (GGL) had set up a joint venture —Kerala GAIL Gas Limited — to provide gas infrastructure in the state.


KSIDC has 24 per cent equity in the new company and GAIL Gas, a fully-owned subsidiary of Gail India Ltd, have 26 per cent.

The balance will be held by a strategic investing partner, according to a KSIDC press release.

The remaining shares will be offered to financial institutions/strategic investors, at a later stage

KSIDC has been associating with GAIL India for setting up the gas trunk pipeline for supplying re-gasified LNG in Kerala from Petronet LNG.

The new company will establish CNG stations for KSRTC buses across the state.

The first such station will be set up in Kochi as natural gas is expected to be available here within one year when the LNG terminal of Petronet LNG is commissioned.
