Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a scholarship program funded by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India to make career in the research in the areas of basic sciences, engineering and medicine.

It offers scholarship and contingency grants up to the pre-Ph.D. level to selected students.

The merit list is based on 75% weightage for Aptitude Test marks and 25% weightage for the interview marks in the streams SA, SB and SX.

SA can be written by students studying in class 11. SX can be written by students studying in class 12.

The composition of the question paper is given in the table below:

20 questions – 1 mark each
10 questions – 2 marks each

Physics

20 questions – 1 mark each
10 questions – 2 marks each

Chemistry

20 questions – 1 mark each
10 questions – 2 marks each

Biology
20 questions – 1 mark each
10 questions – 2 marks each

Overall marks distribution

The paper pattern was same as last year.
The paper had 120 objective type questions.
Candidates have to attempt 80 questions from total 100 marks.

The Fellowship entitles you to:

A Monthly stipend of Rs. 5000 in BSc with a quarterly contingency of Rs. 5000 ammounting to Rs. 20000 in contingency per year in BSc.

In MSc, you are given a monthly stipend of Rs. 7000 and a quarterly contingency of Rs. 7000 ammounting to Rs. 28000 in contingency per year.

Each KVPY Fellow will be issued an Identity Card so as to have access to National Laboratories/ Universities who have agreed to extend special privileges like library, laboratory facilities, etc. to KVPY Fellows on production of the ID card. Added to which is the respect of being a KVPY Fellow(Don't let that get to your head though)
