Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is an online computer-based test conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), India. It is a national-level admission test for facilitating institutions to select suitable students for admission in all management programmes approved by AICTE. CMAT Structure Duration 3 hours Mode Computer based test Sectional Time Limit No Sections 4 – Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness Number of Questions 100- 25 in each section Marking Scheme +4 for correct answers; -1 for wrong answer Options per Question 4 CMAT Exam Pattern Sections No. of Questions Marks Allotted Difficulty Level Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation 25 100 Easy to Moderate Logical Reasoning 25 100 Moderate to Tough Language Comprehension 25 100 Moderate to Tough General Awareness 25 100 Moderate Overall 100 400 Moderate Syllabus Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation The difficulty level in this section was easy to moderate. The questions and their options, both were on the easier side. The questions were asked mainly from the Arithmetic area. Some questions from higher mathematics like Permutation & Combination, Geometry and Algebra were also asked. The Data Interpretation area had questions on Bar Graph and tables. Data Sufficiency questions are not asked. Logical Reasoning The Logical Reasoning questions ranged from being moderate to tough. The majority of the questions were asked from Data Arrangement area. The other topics included grouping and conditionality. The section had some sitter questions as well. Language Comprehension This section was on a comparatively higher level of difficulty. This section was a combination of Reading Comprehension and English Usage/Verbal Ability. There were 5 Reading Comprehension passages with 3 questions from each passage. The Verbal Ability area had Verbal Reasoning questions as well. In order to get a good score in the exam, the candidates needed to have analytical and vocabulary skills. General Awareness This section was of moderate difficulty level. The questions were asked from the topics of banking, sports, arts and culture, geography, history, politics, business etc. Cracking the section wouldn’t have been difficult for those who are in touch with current affairs. |
