The Lalit Narayan Mithila University is a public university in India. This is started in 1972; the university initially functioned from the Mohanpur House at Sara Mohanpur village of Darbhanga–Sakri route.

The University has 43 constituent colleges and 25 affiliated colleges besides two government colleges – Darbhanga Medical College & Hospital and Rural Institute, Birouli, Samastipur.
