Re: LPN IELTS Requirement

Applicants for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) must provide evidence of language proficiency in English.

The four language proficiency criteria are: Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing.

Applicants are required to successfully completing one of the following tests:

IELTS – International English Language Testing System

Academic Version only

Passing Score-

Listening: 7.5
Reading: 6.5
Writing: 7.0
Speaking: 7.0

Listening: 10
Reading: 8
Writing: 7
Speaking: 8

All applicants whose first language is not English are required to successfully demonstrate English language competence.

Applicants who provide evidence of completing four (4) years of full-time study in English from the following list of countries are not required to provide language proficiency:
Australia, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States and Canada

Applicants, whose test results become more than two years old, at any time during the application process or prior to registration, will be required to provide updated test results.

Tests results must be originals
