Madras Fertilizers Limited was incorporated on December 8, 1966 as a joint wander amongst GOI and AMOCO India fused of U.S.A (AMOCO) as per the Fertilizer Formation Agreement executed on 14.5.1966 with value commitments of 51% and 49% separately.

MFL is occupied with the make of Ammonia, Urea, Complex Fertilizers and Biofertilizers. The Plant

MFL comprises of generation plants, Ammonia, Urea in single streams and NPK in three streams, viz. NPK A Train, B Train and C Train. Utilities Plant is the administration plant providing treated water, cooling water, off-site steam, instrument air, hostage power and crisis control. On November 1, 1971, MFL initiated business generation of Ammonia, Urea and NPK complex. The feedstock for Ammonia is Naphtha and it is being provided by the neighboring M/s Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL).
