Institute for Intensive Research in Basic Sciences (IIRBS) has been instituted in the campus of Mahatma Gandhi University at Priyadarshini Hills Kottayam.

The Institute is offering an innovative Integrated Interdisciplinary Master of Science programme (MS Programme) and Integrated PhD Programme(PhD Programme) first time among the Universities in Kerala.

Programs offered-

Integrated Interdisciplinary Master of Science programme (MS Programme)

Eligibility

A minimum of 55 % marks scored in the Plus- two (science stream) level of exam.

The selection procedure consists of a thematic objective-cum-comprehensive test, followed by an interview
The courses are broadly divided in to five parts.

1. General Foundation buildup courses (core, Sciences and Humanities)
2. Principle level.
3. Skill generation (core, common)
4. Advanced level
5. Contemporary interest.

Integrated PhD Programme (PhD Programme)

Eligibility

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry/ Physics/ Biology/ Mathematics

And also candidates with BE/B.Tech/ B.Pharm/ medical/ paramedical sciences/ any Engineering or Science based bachelor's degree holders including agricultural sciences (with minimum 60% of marks) are eligible.

The candidate should have done mathematics either in the +2 level or bachelors level as one of the subjects.

Chemistry stream:

B Sc/ BE/ B.Tech or equivalent degree with Chemistry as one of the subjects with Mathematics at Plus 2 level.

Physics stream:

B Sc/ BE/ B.Tech or equivalent degree with Physics and Mathematics at plus 2 level.

Biology stream:

B Sc/ BE/ B.Tech or equivalent degree in Physical, Chemical or Biological Sciences (including Pharmaceutical, Veterinary, Biotechnology and Agricultural Sciences) with Biology as one of the subjects in Plus 2 level

Mathematical stream:

B Sc/ BE/ B.Tech or equivalent degree with Physics and Chemistry at plus 2 level.

The selection procedure consists of a thematic objective (50% weightage)-cum-comprehensive (50% weightage) test followed by a final selection camp to test their aptitude for scientific research and experimental skill.
