One of the major priorities of American University in Cairo is providing scholarships and financial aid support to its students, in order to further AUC’s mission of building a culture of leadership ready to contribute to both Egypt and the international community in diverse fields. Scholarship support enables AUC to attract gifted young men and women, regardless of their financial circumstances, to the University and provide them with an education that empowers them to create positive change in Egypt and the world. It offers scholarships based on merit and need. Generally, scholarships are reserved for students with special qualifications, such as academic, athletic or artistic talent and who demonstrate high financial need. It offers more than 90 named scholarships supported by individuals and corporations. These prestigious funds from donors have allowed it to recruit and educate outstanding and deserving students who come from different cities, countries and educational backgrounds Scholarships The Simpson Scholarship in Egyptology It was established in 2003 to support 2 to 4 annual scholarships for junior or senior undergraduates enrolled in the year abroad program in Egyptology at AUC based on their academic achievement. The scholarship is designed for study abroad students who wish to increase their knowledge and familiarity with ancient Egypt at The American University in Cairo. It provides a $5,000 to $10,000 award for one semester to be used toward tuition or AUC housing. Eligibility Criteria 1. One must be enrolled in at least three Egyptology courses at AUC 2. One must be an undergraduate student enrolled at a United States University Herman Eilts Scholarship It was established in 2007 to cover the expenses of undergraduates enrolled in colleges and universities in the United States who have an interest in the Middle East to pursue Middle East studies, political science or history at AUC for one semester or a year. The scholarship offers a $5,000 to $10,000 award for one semester offered to non-degree students to be used toward tuition or AUC housing. Eligibility Criteria 1. Minimum GPA of 3.2 2. Enrolled in a minimum of 4 courses at AUC during the semester of the award, at least one in the field of political science or Middle Eastern studies 3. One must be an undergraduate student enrolled at a United States University |
