Paper I : Foundation Of Indian Culture

PART- A

Buddhism Main features of Puranic religion. Varna System; Ashram System;
Upanayana and Vivaha Sanskars; Purusharthas Main centres of Ancient Indian
education.

PART- B

Ramayana; Mahabharata, Cultural importance of the Puranas, Development of
Science during the Gupta period, Kalidas and Tulsidas.
Salient features of the Indus and Mauryan Art Mathura Art Gupta Temples,
Mughal architecture, Schools of Rajput paintings.

PART-C

Bhakti Movement and Sufism and their impact on Indian culture. Socioreligious
contribution of Brahma Samaj, Arya Samaj and Ram Krishan Mission. Social and
cultural significance of the ideas of Ravindranath Tagore.
