Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (IMS BHU), Varanasi was established in 1960 as College of Medical Sciences. Initially, IMS BHU had only 9 Departments of Modern Medicine. In 1971, the college was upgraded as Institute of Medical Sciences.
