The Govt. of India in Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Secondary and Higher Education, New Delhi, on the inform with respect to the University Grants Commission, gave Deemed to be University status to "Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (MAHER)" according to Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 Vide Govt. Warning No.F.9-5/2002-U.3, dated.31.03.2004.

Thusly Meenakshi Medical College and Research Institute, Enathur, Kanchipuram and Meenakshi College of Nursing, Mangadu, Chennai were brought under the ambit of MAHER (MU) in Govt. of India's letter No.F.9-11/2004-U.3, dated.26.07.2004, and F.9-22/2004-U.3, dated.02.06.2005.

Confirmation of understudies of MAHER is made entirely on legitimacy in view of an All India Examination as endorsed by the UGC Regulations and in consistence with the National strategy for this benefit now and again.
