MSTC Limited is a Mini Ratna Category-I PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Steel, Government of India.

The company was set up in 9th September 1964 to act as a regulating authority for export of ferrous scrap with an investment of Rs 6 lakh.
Government of India, Members ofSteel Arc Furnace Association and members of ISSAI had made with the investment.

Tender/Auction Services:
The Division is responsible for disposal of ferrous and miscellaneous scrap from steel plants as well as disposal of scrap and used stores, rejected wastes, etc. and surplus items from over 150 Public Sector Undertakings and Departments

At present MSTC sells scrap obsolete stores spares capital equipment’s worth around Rs.2,000 Crore per year.
The modus operandi followed by MSTC for this purpose is to put only a select number of items on auction, which can be offered on a regular and sustained basis.

Initiate drive to register actual buyers of the item for permanent registration.
Advance notice of selling events is sent by e-mail to the registered customers.

Auctions are thereafter held on pre-announced date and time.
Marketing Services:
This Division largely undertakes import and export of carbon steel melting scrap, finished steel coal coke as also other nontraditional items like SKO, Naptha etc.
