The MU SIGMA UPSILON SORORITY, INC was founded on November 21, 1981 at Rutgers University, New Brunswick.

Gaia chapter is founded at Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY of MU SIGMA UPSILON SORORITY, INC on 2006-04-01.

This is founded as the first Multicultural Greek Letter Society, celebrating the abundance of cultures that comprise our Sorority for the last 30 years.

The founders were five women determined to establish an organization that brought together not just women of the same background, but all women.
