The National Eligibility Test (NET), also known as UGC NET or NTA-UGC-NET, is the test for determining the eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) award in Indian universities and colleges.

UGC NET written exam is the first step that a candidate needs to take for becoming a lecturer or to conduct research work for renowned organization.

Eligibility Criteria

i)
One who has secured minimum 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master Degree OR equivalent exam from universities recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science &Applications, Electronic Science etc. is eligible.

The Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer/Scheduled Caste(SC)/ Scheduled Tribe(ST)/ persons with disability(PWD) category candidates who have secured minimum 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master degree or equivalent exam is eligible.

ii)
One who has appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master degree (final year) exam and whose result is still awaited or one whose qualifying exams have been delayed may also apply.

Such candidates must complete their P.G degree exam within 2 years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which one is treated as disqualified.
