National Institute of Homeopathy was built up on tenth December 1975 in Kolkata as an Autonomous Organization under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. By and by, it is under the Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India.

The Institute, partnered toward the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, by and by conducts the degree course in Homeopathy viz Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery [B.H.M.S.] since 1987 and Post - Graduate course i.e. Specialist of Medicine in Homeopathy [M.D.(Hom.)] in six subjects viz Organon of Medicine, Repertory, Materia Medica,Practice of Medicine, Pediatrics and Homeopathic Pharmacy since 1998-99 onwards.

Today it comprises of an Undergraduate and Postgraduate segments with a hall of 800 seating limit, a healing center having an outpatient dept. also, a 100 had relations with inpatients dept. alongside investigative offices.

The Institute is working in its own grounds measuring around 16 sections of land of land at Block - GE, Sector - III, Salt Lake, Kolkata - 700 106, with an aggregate floor space of around 1.8 lakh square meters with impact from 11.08.1986.

A 250 - situated Boys Hostel, a 70 - situated Girls Hostel and a Guest House are likewise accessible in a similar grounds. We likewise have a Staff Quarters on a plot of land measuring around 9 sections of land near the Institute grounds inside Salt Lake (Block JC).

Courses

The Institute was affiliated to the University of Calcutta up to session 2003-04 as well as from 2004-05 it has been affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Kolkata.

This Institute, conducts the degree course in Homoeopathy i.e., Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery [B.H.M.S.] since 1987 as well as Post - Graduate course i.e. Doctor of Medicine in Homoeopathy [M.D. (Hom.)] since 1998.

At present PG course is conducted in six subjects viz. Organon of Medicine, Materia Medica, Repertory, Homoeopathic Pharmacy, Practice of Medicine and Paediatrics.

The Institute is recognized by the Central Council of Homoeopathy, to offer B.H.M.S. course in Homoeopathy viz., Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery; and from 1998-99 to conduct MD (Homoeopathy) courses.
