Engineering Services Examination is a combined competitive examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment to the services or posts of Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.

ESE Exam Eligibility

You must be a graduate in Engineering from a recognized university.

Final year students can also appear in IES exam.

Age Eligibility: You need to be between 21 years to 30 years as on 1st January of the exam year. Age relaxations exist as per the government rules.

Important Dates

Date of Notification: 28 September, 2016
Last Date to Apply: 21 October, 2016
Date of Preliminary Exam: 8 January, 2017
Date of Main Exam: 14 May, 2017

Only those candidates qualifying at Stage I are permitted to appear for Stage-II examination.

Similarly, only those Candidates qualifying at Stage-I + Stage-II are permitted to appear for Stage-III examination.

Indian Engineering Services are the common administrations that meet the specialized and administrative elements of the Government of India. Like most nations, the Government of India selects its government workers and authorities on the premise of legitimacy, the center administration positions in the organization are filled through aggressive exams. Huge number of applicants take these exams, vieing for constrained posts. IES officers are Engineers cum civil servants chose by the union government on the proposals made by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). A consolidated three-phase focused examination (involving 2 Objective tests,2 Conventional tests and a Personality Test), called the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) is led by the UPSC for enlistment to the Indian Engineering Services.[1] IES remain the most looked for after vocations for the designing graduates in India

UPSC ESE Eligibility:

I. Nationality: A Candidate must be either

i. a national of India, or

ii. a subject of Nepal, or

iii. a subject of Bhutan, or

iv.a Tibetan evacuee who approached India before the 01 January , 1962 with the expectation of for all time settling in India, or

(v). a Person of Indian starting point who has relocated from Pakisthan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countires of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawim Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the expectation of for all time setting in India.

Given that an applicant having a place with classifications (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above might be a man in whose support an endorsement of qualification has been issued by the Government of India.

II. Age Limit: Candidates age ought to be between 21-30 years i.e., he/she probably been conceived not sooner than 02-01-1986 and not later than 01-01-1995.

Upper Age Limit Relaxation:

i. Upto most extreme of 5 years if a hopeful has a place with a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.

ii. 3 years on account of applicants having a place with Other Backward Classes.

iii. 5 years if a hopeful had normally been domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir amid the period from the 01-01-1980 to the 31-12-1989.

iv. 3 years, on account of Defense Services faculty, handicapped in operations amid threats with any remote nation or in an aggravated territory, and discharged as a result thereof.

v. 5 years on account of Ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered atleast five years Military Service.

vi. 5 years on account of ECOs/SSCOs who have finished an underlying time of task of five years of Military Service as on 01-01-2016.

vii. 10 years on account of hard of hearing quiet and Orthopaedically impeded people.

III. Least Educational Qualification: Candidates must have:

i. Acquired a Degree in Engineering from a University joined by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutions built up by an Act of Parliament or announced to be considered as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or

ii. passed Sections An and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India); or

iii. gotten a Degree/Diploma in Engineering from such outside University/College/Institution and under such conditions as might be perceived by the Government for the reason every once in a while, or

iv. passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India); or

v. passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections An and B of the Aeronautical Society ofIndia; or

(IV). Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit by gauges for admission to Engineering Services Examination.

I have completed B.Tech in Electrical Engineering and now wants to apply for UPSC (Union Public Service Commission)’s Engineering Services Examination so please give details about it including required eligibility criteria with age limit?
