The Sikkim Manipal University SMU is recognised by the University Grants Commission and approved by the Government of India. It is incorporated under the State Legislative Act (Act IX of 1995) of the Government of Sikkim. It is recognised by UGC under section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956. The University is recognised by UGC to continue offering programmes through Open & Distance Learning (ODL) mode for the session 2017-2018 vide F.
