Nitin Sharma | Who Established the Famous Doon School Can you please help me in getting the history of the Doon School as I have got some work with the school? The Doon School that is also informally known as the Doon School or just the Doon to the students who are getting the education at the school is a boys-only independent boarding school based at the city of the Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. This schools was founded in the year1935 by Satish Ranjan Das, a Kolkata lawyer. He prevised a school modelled on the British public school, but sensitive to the Indian ambitions and desires and provide the quality education to the Indian students . The school's first headmaster was an Englishman, Arthur E. Foot, who had spent nine years as a science master at Eton College, England before joining to Doon school, and returned to England right after India's independence in the year 1947. Following are some of the facilities that the school provides today Art School Boarding Houses Science Blocks Dining Hall School Hospital Library Multipurpose Hall Music School Rose Bowl Sports Facilities Technology and Campus Teachers' Housing Houses of the school- There are five main houses namely the Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kashmir, Tata and Oberoi and two holding houses like the Foot and Martyn, that are being named after former headmasters of the school, where new students live for a year before moving to one of the main houses of the school.
