Re: News on Mahatma Gandhi University Meghalaya

The University Grants Commission (UGC) had set July 23, 2014 as due date for the Mahatma Gandhi University to present a consistence report subsequent to shutting down its seven worldwide and six national off-grounds focuses.

The summit body's most recent letter came after it turned down a demand by the college Vice Chancellor to audit the choice to close down the 13 centres working outside the State and abroad. The college powers should shut down its seven worldwide off-grounds focuses at Sharjah, Doha, Bahrain, Dubai, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi and Oman and the national focuses in Gujarat, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka and the Union Territory of New Delhi before July 23 according to the UGC order.

The Distance Education Bureau (DEB) of the commission found that the focuses were opened disregarding the UGC rules on regional locale.

In a letter sent to the Vice Chancellor, D.K. Rao, Deputy Director of DEB, has asked for the college not to concede any understudies in the projects offered through separation mode for the year 2014-15.

The DEB letter brought up that the UGC has been over and over asking for the State colleges to breaking point offering their projects inside the regional ward of their Act and statutes however not past the limit of the individual State of their sanctioning.
