On March 15, 1921 nearby coordinators introduced petitions conveying 800 marks of watering system area supporters to the Nevada County Board of Supervisors. On August 5, 1921 an open race was held with voters supporting the new region by an edge of 536-163.

Nevada County Supervisors approved the new region and 10 days taking after the race, on August 15, 1921, NID was authoritatively framed.

The District will give a trustworthy, quality water supply; keep on being great stewards of the watersheds, while moderating the accessible assets in our consideration.

Today's NID

NID is a differentiated water asset organization that supplies water to almost 25,000 homes, ranches and organizations in Nevada and Placer provinces in the foothills of Northern California's Sierra Nevada Mountains.
