The Department of Pathology in NIMS (Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences) was started in1986. It is the first one in the state that established subspecialties with dedicated efforts and commitment of all the faculty and staff. It is a member of external quality control programme for cytology, coagulation and histopathology.

It is also actively involved in teaching & training of MD Pathology Residents deputed for short term training from different Medical Colleges/ Institutes both within and outside the state.
