National Service Scheme (NSS) in National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli is a permanent youth programme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India

It is funded by Government of Tamil Nadu and Government of India.

The motto of NSS is "Not me but you".

It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole.

It is a two year voluntary service where students are allowed to develop their personality through social service.

NSS volunteers have helped in the Plantation project in college where over 6400 saplings were planted.

Apart from that, camps are held in nearby villages where attempts are made to improve conditions for the villagers.

Blood donation camps, computer coaching for school children, cleaning up temples and various such activities fill the calendar of an NSS volunteer.
