Online applications are open until 31 October 2016 for 1st semester and year programmes in NMMU or Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. Requirements for Undergraduate Language Requirement The medium of instruction and examination at NMMU is English. One from non-English speaking countries are required to submit proof of English proficiency before registration. The TOEFL or IELTS tests, available in most countries, are acceptable proof. The Minimum TOEFL Score required is: • 230 on the computer-based test; • 570 on the paper-based test; The Minimum Score required IELTS score is: • 6.0 The Minimum Score on the IBT: • 92 overall with minimums of 18 in listening, 17 in reading 22 in writing and 22 in speaking NOTES: • Applicants completing Cambridge administered examinations will be accepted with the following grades: o A-level: Grades A, B, C and D o O-level: Grades a, b and c • Students completing non-Cambridge administered examinations will be accepted with the following grades: • A-level: Grades A, B and C • O level: Grades a, b and c • In addition to the above applicants must meet the minimum SPS score and programme related requirements; • O- level: minimum B grade • A-level: minimum D grade OR the equivalent grade from other school leaving systems as indicated in the conversion table • Programmes where compulsory school leaving subjects are indicated candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: • International Baccalaureate Diploma: At least 27 points required. • International Baccalaureate Certificate: Pass marks in two Higher Level, and three Subsidiary Level subjects, including English. Pass marks = symbols 5 to 7. • Extended programmes in the faculty of Business and Economic Sciences o SPS score of 28 o Minimum o-level b symbol or equivalent on the conversion table for compulsory school leaving subjects • Extended programmes in the faculty of Health Sciences • SPS score of 29 • Minimum o-level b symbol or equivalent on the conversion table for compulsory school leaving subjects • SPS score of 28 • Minimum o-level b symbol or equivalent on the conversion table for compulsory school leaving subjects • SPS score of 29 • Minimum o-level b symbol or equivalent on the conversion table for compulsory school leaving subjects • Extended programmes in the faculty of Law • Extended programmes in the faculty of Science • The foreign school qualification is benchmarked against the South African school leaving certificate as the standard. The University may add additional requirements for specific programmes. • Applicants from SADC countries only offering GCSE or O level equivalents can be directly admitted to the extended programs if they meet the following criteria: • Important to note that certain programmes have been omitted as international applicants are not able to enter these programmes; |
