I want to join NSW Basketball National Intensive Training Program so can you please tell me the selection process and the criteria to join this?

The National Intensive Training Program NITP is the key component of Basketball Australia’s national player and coach identification and development strategy. Basketball Australia’s National Intensive Training Program is a model for players & coaches for teaching individual and team fundamentals The aim of Basketball Australia’s National Intensive Training Program is to identify and select outstanding basketball athletes, aged between 13-17 years to an NITP Squad Selection to an NITP Squad is for a 12-month period. Selection Criteria - Athletic ability e.g. speed, height, strength and fitness Desire to become a national player Outstanding potential to compete successfully at national and international level Be highly receptive to coaching Potential to be socially compatible and display a sense of “team ethic” within a group Demonstrated desire to succeed not only in basketball, but in educational, vocational and personal life Demonstrated attitude to become an exceptional basketball player Outstanding desire and commitment to working hard at improving mental, physical and basketball skills Selection Process - The selection criteria is assessed by the State NITP Head Coach through; Observation & evaluation of the athletes at BNSW development camps & events Observation and evaluation of the athletes performance at club games Observation at BNSW Development Tour events State squad selection trials Specific NITP camps Performance at National Championships Performances at State Championships Basketball Australia National Intensive Training Program |
