The University Of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) is an Indian University for its education and research in fields of energy & power.

It is established through an act of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand in 2003, is sponsored by Hydrocarbons Education and Research Society.

Its vision is to be an Institution of Global standing for developing professionally competent talent contributing to nation building.

It provides domain specialized programs in oil and gas, transportation, power, computer science, information technology, international business, logistics and supply chain, infrastructure, Public Policy, Design and Legal Studies.

It is the only Asian University to receive the World Oil Award. UPES is an attempt of Hydrocarbons Education & Research Society (HERS) to promoting education and training in Energy and allied sectors.

• GRIHA (National Green Building Rating System), four stars rating awarded to UPES Campus which makes it the only GRIHA rated University in India.
