Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola was built up on twentieth October, 1969 with its head-quarter at Akola. This Agricultural University was named after the celebrated child of Vidarbha Dr. Panjabrao (false name Bhausaheb) Deshmukh, who was the Minister for Agriculture,Govt. of India.

The University has its fundamental grounds at Akola. The instructional projects at primary grounds are spread over in 5 Colleges in particular, College of Agriculture, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, College of Forestry, College of Horticulture and Post Graduate Institute. The Department of Extension Education Dr.PDKV, Akola was built up in the year 1969. The Department is fundamentally required in Teaching, Research and Extension Education. It offers specialized and logistic backing for the Agriculture and unified expansion exercises directed at the University level.
