The University of Calcutta, which is located in Kolkata, West Bengal is one of the oldest and renowned educational institutes in South Asia.

It was established in 1857. There are several colleges, institutes etc. that are affiliated to this university

The University of Calcutta (CU), Kolkata conducts exam for its Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programme offered at the Department of Applied Mathematics, History Linguistics and Microbiology for the academic session 2016.

Educational qualification:

History: The candidates interested in applying for this programme must be holding an M.A degree.

Applied Mathematics: The eligibility criteria for Ph.D in Applied Mathematics will be as per UGC guidelines for university Ph.D regulations.

Microbiology: The candidates interested in applying for this programme must be holding a M.Sc/B.Tech degree in Biological Sciences from a UGC recognised university.

Selection procedure

A written test followed by an interview will be conducted for shortlisting the candidates.
