Re: Physics Department IIT Bombay

The Department comprises of around 30 employees. It offers a 4-year B.Tech. program in Engineering Physics and a 5 year B.Tech.- M.Tech. Double Degree in Engineering Physics with specialization in nanoscience. The Department additionally offers a 2-year M.Sc. program. From the scholastic year 2012, another 4 year double degree program in M.Sc. (Material science)- M.Tech. (Material Science) with a specialization in Nano-Science and innovation is offered together by the Department of Physics and the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Material Science and a 6 year M.Sc.- Ph.D. double degree program in Physics. An exceptionally dynamic and dynamic Ph.D. program, in which around 80 research understudies are as of now selected, is a highlight of the division.

The Department has a dynamic examination program in the outskirts of dense matter material science, measurable physical science, photonics, atomic physical science and high vitality material science both in principle and also analyzes. It has all around prepared labs to complete exploratory examination in different push ranges, for example, attractive and superconducting materials, semiconductor flimsy movies, multilayers and nanostructures, ultrafast forms and nonlinear optics and atomic structure and response contemplates.

A portion of the real offices of the office incorporate sputtering, laser removal and Langmuir-Blodgett offices for flimsy film arrangement, low temperature estimations and femto and nano second lasers. In perspective of the present enthusiasm of the Department in nanoscience and innovation, best in class offices, for example, high determination x-beam diffractometer, low vitality electron diffraction and checking test magnifying instrument have been setup. An adaptable Surface Analysis Instrument comprising of Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis-Scanning Auger Nanoprobe, Atomic Force Microscopy has been setup in the office as a focal office of the establishment. The division has in the blink of an eye embraced more than 20 R and D ventures from different supporting organizations.
