Is Prayas - an IIT Kanpur initiative to help the poor children to gain free education provided by IITK students only? Is it mainly focused on providing education to the kids in and around IITK campus? Is there any Facebook page of it as I want to join it?

PRAYAS is an endeavour of Indian Institute of Technology IIT Kanpur students, mainly focussed on providing education to the marginalized kids in and around IITK campus, at least upto the level where they too can dream big.

It is a voluntary service to promote the notion of 'Education for All' as a sustainable means of development.

Activities-

Teaching Methodology

Their volunteers put their best effort to make kids learn with fun.

Regular Evening Classes

They strive to enable them to read/write and do basic arithmetic, so they can find and follow their own way whenever they want.

Saturday Music Classes

Music classes are held every Saturday where kids try to feel and learn the essence of Music

Friday - The Sports Day

Friday is the day where kids and the volunteers unleash the fun spirit- engage in sports, be it cricket, football, kabaddi or indoors like carrom and chess

Painting

They draw, they create and fill their lives with colours- all they need is an empty canvas; and that's provided from time to time, be on ocassional saturdays or for festivals and competions

Experiments - Learning by Doing

Experiments are conducted whenever felt necessary to understand a concept better. Their kids also participate in nearby 'Vigyan Mela'.

Computer Classes

To equip their students with the changing needs of computer literacy, they have acquired three computers and hold classes on Sundays
