The ‘Department of Biological Sciences (DBS)’ is the youngest autonomous interdisciplinary department in the 196 years history of ‘Presidency University’, formerly ‘Presidency college’ Facilities Animal cell culture facility Animal house Bacteriological facility Butterfly garden to study insect ecology and diversity Facilities for basic molecular biology Facilities for - hematology, ecology, animal behavior, ichthyology, parasitology and entomology Plant tissue culture facility Spectroscopic facility UG and PG-lecture halls UG and PG-general laboratories List of some research work done here: “Biochemical characterization of SarA and SarR regulators in S. aureus to study molecular genetics” DBT, Govt. of India, 2014-2016. ( PI: Prof. Adhar C Manna. Rs. 26,64,750). Studies on enhancing biological control mechanism of aquatic weed, water hyacinth through integration of insects and fungal agents. ( DST under SERB- OYS Scheme). PI: Dr Puja Ray. Molecular dissection of polyamine mediated hyper-osmotic stress tolerance in cultivars of indica rice (DBT, Govt. of India, RGYI-Grant); 2013-2016.
