The Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE) is an Indian defence laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) located in Balasore, Orissa

PXE is organised under the Armaments Directorate of DRDO.

Its main purpose concerns the research and development of technologies and products in the area of medium and large caliber weapons and their ammunition.

Areas of Work

Conduct developmental trials for different armour materials.

Technical evaluation of imported weapons and ammunition.

Conduct design and developmental trials of armament stores, i.e., weapons, ammunition and their components.

Periodical depot check proof.

Investigation firing for failure analysis.

Provide a fully instrumented and calibrated firing range for test & evaluation of all arms & ammunitions of Indian /Imported origin.

Analysis of ballistic data and design parameters& advance simulation for Artillery shells.

Development of S-band radar.

Development of software for Range application (AIMS).
Range safety analysis.

Development of In-bore Ballistic Models for Artillery projectile.

Development of Digital Data acquisition system for SRGM gun 76.2mm.
