Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Conduct Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Entrance Exam every year . Eligibility Criteria of IAS Exam: Educational Qualification Applicant must have completed his/her graduation in any stream from recognized State or central university approved by UGC. Nationality: Citizen of India. Age Limit Criteria: 21 years -32 years Age Relaxation : For SC/ST category candidates: 5 years in short 32+5 =37 years For OBC category candidates: 3 years in short 32+3=35 years If applicant is domiciled in J &K between year 1st Jan 1980 to 31st Dec 1989 he/she will also get more 5 years in short 32+5=37 years Number of Attempts : 6 attempts for all applicants who are not in reserved category. There is no limit (No restriction ) for SC/ST category candidates There are 9 attempts for all applicants who belong to OBC category. Exam Scheme of UPSC IAS Exam Stage I: Civil Services Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) The Examination shall comprise two compulsory papers of 200 marks each. Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours Current events of national and international importance History of India and Indian National Movement Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World. Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc. Economic and Social Development Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc. General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization. General Science. Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision-making and problem-solving General mental ability Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc) Data Interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency) English Language Comprehension skills Stage II: Civil Services Main Examination The written examination will consist of the following papers: Paper-I Section 1 Essay Section 2 English Comprehension & English Précis Paper-II General Studies–I (Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society) Paper-III General Studies –II (Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations) Paper-IV General Studies –III (Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management) Paper-V General Studies –IV (Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude) Paper-VI Optional Subject – Paper 1 Paper-VII Optional Subject – Paper 2 |
