Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-D) is an autonomous research-oriented university with strong focus on research at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The mission of IIIT-Delhi is to be a global centre of excellence in Information Technology education, training and research. It aims to carry out advanced research and development in information and software technologies, and in leveraging IT in specific domain areas and to train and educate, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, engineers of outstanding ability who can become innovators and new product creators.

Ranking

IIIT-Delhi was ranked 56th among all kind of Indian universities in 2016 by National Institutional Ranking Framework, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India

It was ranked 7th among government engineering colleges in a 2015 Dataquest survey of technical schools, 9th in India among engineering colleges in a 2014 survey by Aglasem, 35th in a survey of engineering colleges conducted by Silicon India in 2014 and 44th among Indian engineering colleges in a 2015 survey by EDU-RAND.

It was given an 'A' grade by the Indian government's National Assessment and Accreditation Council in May 2015. It has been rated AAAA by Careers 360 (Magazine) in India 2015.
