Reservation in CAT Exam

Hello sir I am here as I want to gain information about Reservation in CAT Exam so will you please provide me the information about that to me??

Common Admission Test (CAT) is conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) and other participating institute across the country.

The reservation policies for the Common Admission Test are as follows –

Category Reservation (%)

Scheduled Caste (SC) 15

Scheduled Tribe (ST) 7.5

Non Creamy – Other Backward Classes (NC-OBC) 27

People with Disability (PWD) 3


The candidates applying under the PWD category must have the following disabilities

-Low vision blindness

-Hearing impairment

-Locomotor disabilities (more than 40%)


Each of the IIMs will be having their own selection process. However, there will be no changes in category after the completion of the registration.



Eligibility Criteria for CAT


-The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC, ST and PWD/DA category).

-In absence of any percentage conversion scheme, candidate’s CGPA will be divided by maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100.



Test Pattern:

-Paper will have mix of MCQ and NON MCQ questions

-Duration of the Exam Will be three Hours or 180 Minutes

-Each Correct Answer will bring 3 Marks

-For wrong answers there is a penalty of -1 marks

-The tesr paper will have three papers Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation and Verbal Reasoning

-Total Paper Will Contain 100 Questions
