The Dr. Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences was established on the 10th of March, 1967 as a National centre for ophthalmic science.

RPC has been recognized over the years, as a center of excellence by policy makers, professionals and the discerning public.

The Centre is a constituent unit of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
