Re: RPET Plastic
Hey as RPET (recycled polyethylene terephtalate) comes from plastic that has already been used for packaging, such as the plastic bottles, RPET Plastic RPET stands for recycled polyethylene terephthalate, or recycled PET. PET is a strong, durable and recyclable material that is used for soda bottles, water bottles and food jars, while RPET can be made into such products as blankets, insulation, car parts, shoes and more Uses PET is used as a raw material for making packaging materials such as bottles and containers for packaging a wide range of food products and other consumer goods. Examples include soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, detergents, cosmetics, pharmaceutical products and edible oils. PET is one of the most common consumer plastics used Polyethylene terephthalate also can be used as main material in making paper Re-use of PET bottles PET bottles are also recycled as-is (re-used) for various purposes, including for use in school projects, and for use in solar water disinfection in developing nations, in which empty PET bottles are filled with water and left in the sun to allow disinfection by ultraviolet radiation. PET is useful for this purpose because most other materials (including glass) that are transparent to visible light are opaque to ultraviolet radiation. Features Custom bottles (which are bottles used for products other than carbonated soft drinks) represent 62% of all PET bottles available for recycling. Recycling a ton of PET containers saves 7.4 cubic yards of landfill space. According to the EPA, recycling a pound of PET saves approximately 12,000 BTU's. The average household generated 42 pounds of PET plastic bottles in the year 2005. |
