Can you tell me in detail about RTI (Right to Information) Act of BPCL or Bharat Petroleum Cooperation Limited?

BPCL or Bharat Petroleum Cooperation Limited is committed towards Transparency, Accountability, and Good Governance.

With increasing levels of awareness, there has been significant growth in the demand for information by citizens in the last few years.

Rejection of the “requested information” has consistently shown a decreasing trend, no. of requests/appeals before CPIOs and AAs have reduced in numbers.

As per Section 4(1)(b) of the Act Sumo Moto revelation it has been working towards the quality of voluntary disclosure so that the information seeker gets the desired information without even filing an RTI application.

It proactive and voluntarily put information in the public domain for the use of citizens.

Initially, it started with a single window by appointing one CPIO and one Appellate Authority for India. It now has 88 CPIOs and 11 Appellate Authorities for providing prompt and quality replies to RTI Information within the stipulated period of 30 days.

Sharing information with the public about activities is a continuous process because it believes that it would reduce the public demand for information on one hand, and create a sense of trust in BPCL, on the other. Thus, helping us enhance the Corporate Brand Equity.

With the RTI Act coming into force in 2005, it has now evolved as an effective law to empower people of India with information sought by them in an effort to ensure transparency in all walks of public life.

Additionally, GM (Mktg. Corporate) is appointed as Transparency Officer for effective implementation of provisions of the RTI Act.

The following details are needed for the BPCL RTI Application Form:

• The name of the applicant
• The address for correspondence
• Details of the information sought by the applicant
• RTI Fees in favour of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited payable through Demand Draft/Bank Pay Order/Indian Postal Order/eIPO at the town or city where the application is lodged
• BPCL has a widespread network of operating locations and offices where the application seeking information can be tendered in person or mailed to
• The basic fee to be forwarded with the application is Rs. 10. Court fee stamps, Treasury Payments, Bond Papers, Payments at Post offices, Cash, etc. are not acceptable towards RTI fees. Also, additional fees payable on account of document copies/document inspection shall be made only by Demand Draft/Banker's pay order in favour of BPCL and at the town/city/location of the CPIO from where the information is sought.
• The RTI Application can also be made along with eIPO.
