Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) board.

Purpose of SCRA:

UPSC SCRA exam for getting railway jobs in India
SCRA 2016 exam will be directed for vacancies available in Railway, Special Class Railway Apprentices in Mechanical Department.

Those who want jobs in Mechanical Engineering Department in Railway, will be selected on the base of SCRA 2016 exam score.

The examination comprises written test in:

Mathematics
Physics
Chemistry
English Language
General Knowledge and
Psychological Test (Mental Ability)

The selected candidates are called for an interview, which is followed by a medical examination. The standard of syllabus is that of Class XII (CBSE equivalent).

Candidates who clear SCRA, get a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering after successful completion of four years of training.

This degree is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education.

This programme was started in 1927 and is one of the oldest in India.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: Indian citizen or Nepalese citizen or Bhutanese

Tibetan or Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, and Sri-Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam to permanently settle in India.

Age Limit: Candidate must be inthe age of 17 to 21 years.

Qualification: Higher secondry, Graduates with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as their degree subjects.

Passed in the 1st or 2nd division the Pre-Engineering Examination of a University, approved by the Government of India
