Conveying cheers to lakhs of bank representatives, the administration has acknowledged the long-pending interest of labourers to proclaim second and fourth Saturdays occasions, with impact from September 1 2015.

At present, all PSB and private segment banks work half-day on Saturdays.

"This is an appreciated move. This will be a major alleviation to representatives and I trust that this will enhance the profitability of workers.

If there should arise an occurrence of a month having five Saturdays, banks will be shut just on second and fourth Saturdays.

According to the rules issued by Reserve Bank of India say that NEFT/RTGS office will likewise not be operational on the second and fourth Saturdays and will work entire day on first, third and fifth Saturday (assuming any) of the month, w.e.f. September 1, 2015.
