Project Description

SAIL Sindri Projects Ltd, a special purpose vehicle formed by Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), had plans to undertake the Sindri Power Plant project in Jharkhand, India.

Planning of the Project

In 2011, the project has received approvals from Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA).

In August 2014, SAIL cancelled the plans to develop the project due to delay in getting all the necessary approvals required for the project development and land acquisition issues.

Construction

The project involved the construction of a 1,000MW power plant.
The project will include the construction of a powerhouse, a cooling tower, a substation and other related facilities, and the installation of power generators, transformers and fire fighting instruments, and the laying of transmission lines.
