The two-year, full-time, residential Post Graduate Programme offered by IIMB (Indian Institute of Management Bangalore), leading up to a Post Graduate Diploma in Management, designed to equip students to take on leadership roles in an increasingly complex and dynamic global scenario. Courses and Credits – First year The first-year students are exposed to basic concepts in the areas of Marketing, Finance, Personnel Management and Human Resources Management, Quantitative methods, Operations and Behavioral Sciences through the 'core courses'. These lay the foundation for all the functional areas of management that help develop problem-solving skills. During the first year, a student will be required to do 15 core courses and three electives. The term-wise course details are given in the table below: Term 1 Financial Accounting (3) Quantitative Methods-I (3) Managerial Economics (3) Managing Organisations (3) Marketing Management (3) Managerial Communication- I (2) 17 credits Term 2 Competition & Strategy (3) Corporate Finance (3) Operations Management (3) Quantitative Methods-II (3) Managing People and Performance in Organisations (3) Managerial Communication- II (1) 16 credits Term 3 Business, Government & Society (3) Macroeconomics (3) Management Accounting (2) Core Elective 1 (3) Core Elective 2 (3) Core Elective 3 (3) 17 credits Summer Internship Courses and Credits – Second Year One has to get a minimum of 45 credits in electives in the second year. Electives are usually offered in the following areas: - Finance & Control - Marketing - Corporate Strategy and Policy - Organizational Behaviour & Human Resources Management - Production and Operations Management - Quantitative Methods and Information Systems - Economic and Social Sciences |
